Similar to Elaeagnus umbellata var. parviflora (Wall. ex Royle) C.K.Schneid.
Minnie-bush, Menziesia pilosa, is high elevation Southern Appalachian endemic shrub characterized by glands, not scales, on the leaf midvein and leaves with finely serrate margins. These structures on the leaf undersides are quite distinctive for a positive identification. Minnie-bush is a state listed rare plant - Special Concern.
