Similar to Ampelopsis glandulosa var. brevipedunculata (Maxim.) Momiy.
Native grapes such as Vitis vulpina (frost grape, fox grape), Vitis rotundifolia (muscadine, scuppernong grape), Vitis riparia (riverbank grape) have tan to brown pith in twigs and shredded bark. Porcelain-berry has white pith and ridged bark.
