Caltha palustris

Similar to Ranunculus ficaria L.

Caltha palustris (marsh marigold) is also in the Buttercup Family and grows in wet woodlands from a cluster of thick, branching roots. Kidney-shaped leaves typically have a scalloped or toothed margin. Flowering stalks hold a few to several flowers 4 cm dia., each with 5 (4-9) bright yellow sepals (no true petals). Fruits are follicles.
